JER AND JEWEL’S
HIGHWAY HARMONY NEWS!!!!!!
To our faithful friends and partners:
IS IT HOT OR IS IT JUST ME? :)
What’s
Been Going On?
Just
Doing Our Thing: After a quiet month in April
(regarding our singing that is—Jer is always busy visiting Pastors
and setting up concerts/men’s meetings, etc.), we got busier in May
with several opportunities to sing and getting ready to head once
again to Ohio. We left for Ohio June 6th and stayed until
July 1st. We had a great time visiting with Jer’s
family, his life-long friends, Gale & Lori Gilbert, and of course
our ever extending church family as we held concerts and
fellowshipped with the local churches that have us minister to them
when we are in town. We will be posting pictures (I will try not to
post too many of the family J). We had a Lusher family reunion while
we were there and it was so good to see everybody doing well and
living for the LORD. We truly have so much to be thankful for. Just
for your amusement, while we were staying with Jer’s mom and dad,
Jer was learning a new song, “I’ve Had a Wonderful Life”, that
he wanted to sing for his dad (& mom) on Father’s Day. The only
problem we had was that there was no place for him to practice in the
house where his dad would not hear it—sooooo, he ended up
practicing the song sitting in his sister’s PT Cruiser in the
garage. Because the song is in a higher key that he is used to, he
really had to push it and he sang really loud. I couldn’t resist
teasing him saying he must feel like a teenager again, belting out
songs in the garage, LOL!
What’s
coming up?
FGMA Convention 2010! We are busy getting ready for this year’s Florida Gospel Music Association Convention to be held as usual on Labor Day weekend. It’s a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of great music, preaching, and fellowship. If you can, come and camp with us on the convention center grounds and make sure to invite your friends. There are also other RV parks and hotels in the area. This is our fourth year to sing at the convention and each year gets better than the one before, so come out and help us celebrate our LORD through Southern Gospel Music, fellowship, and the inspiring preaching of Randy Perry on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
We
hope to have some t-shirts, hats, tote bags, etc., on our table at
the FGMA that feature Jer’s artwork. On the shirts will be pictures
of his chalks of both old and new style trains, plane paintings, and
maybe even some Star Trek pictures. They will have Christian sayings
under the paintings. I will post a picture of one of the hats just to
give you an idea of what they will be like. We have just gotten
started with this line (it has a really cool name, but we want to
make sure and copyright it before we advertise it), so it will grow
and expand to what GOD would have it become. GOD has told all of us
to use our gifts and talents to bring honor and glory to HIM, so I am
thankful HE has shown us a way to use both Jer’s paintings and
chalks and my gift of writing together.
More
NEW News! Well, our busy time begins in August,
starting with a long overdue trip to New Brunswick, Canada, Aug 20th
to the 27th. Moncton, New Brunswick, is my (Jewel’s)
home town and I have not been back there for well over 20 years
(wow—time sure does go by fast)!! I am looking forward to visiting
my brother and spending time with my two nieces that I have never
even seen yet. My daughter, Sheri, her husband, Joel, and my precious
granddaughter, Jasmine, from Montreal, Canada, will be meeting us
there. It will be a fabulous time but all too short for a first-time
grandma!
Planning
Ahead!! We are getting
that familiar feeling again concerning our next traveling home. We
believe it is a matter of weeks or even days before the new bus we
have been praying for will be given to us so we can stay even longer
on the road for JESUS through the ministry of TMI. With that in mind,
we are making plans for “Big Blue,” the miracle bus GOD blessed
us with over six years ago. We had always intended to give the bus
away but as I was in prayer thanking GOD and asking HIM to reveal HIS
plan for us to get out of debt, HE reminded me of the Christian joke
that has gone around several times about the man stranded on his roof
in a flood who turned down rescue from a big wheel truck, a boat, and
finally a helicopter, claiming GOD would rescue him—only to perish
in the flood. When he asked GOD why HE did not rescue him, the LORD
responded, “I did try to rescue you! I sent you a truck, a boat,
and a helicopter!” The LORD reminded me that the bus was given to
us with no strings attached and that it could be the vehicle to
finally get us out of debt. We will be putting it up for sale as soon
as our next bus arrives. We believe GOD has given us a price
but we will be praying more about it and will post the price when we
have total peace. We are praying for enough not only to get out of
debt, but also afford some much-needed musical equipment and replace
some broken equipment. We will be getting in touch with some of our
TMI Chaplains’ pastors to see if they want to sponsor those TMI
Chaplains that are called to travel in the ministry by purchasing the
bus for them. We are confident the bus will go where the LORD wills,
just as it came to us and has been a huge blessing to us while on the
road. For pictures, just click on the “The Bus” button on the web
site. There will be updated pictures coming as we will be making some
more small improvements to the bus over the next few weeks. For
additional info on the bus, just give Jer a call at 727-366-9957 or
email us at JerandJewelMinistries@juno.com.
I would ask our friends to keep the sale of our bus in prayer,
thanking GOD for HIS provision in getting us out of debt and meeting
our ministry needs. We thank GOD for those HE has given to stand with
us in prayer and support, believing in what HE has called us to do.

Next Time! Remember, we love you all very much and
appreciate the love and prayers you send our way. We pray GOD’s
abundant blessings on all those who partner with us financially, and
pray for us. We pray that we will always stay humble in HIS service
sharing the good news (actually “great news”) of HIS incredible
salvation and amazing grace to the lost and dying. But for now, keep
looking up; HE is coming soon. Let’s all be ready! So, until next
time, as they say in Southern Gospel, “WE’LL
SEE YOU AT THE HOUSE!!”
As Always, You’re Servants in CHRIST
